When I started blogging, it had everything: links, short posts, long posts, pictures. Web 2.0 has brought new ways of creating that content, but it feels scattered. This site brings my multiple streams of content back to one place, like we did in the good old days.

06:12 PM: flickr: Working very hard at the sleeping http://tinyurl.com/5bve4j
04:58 PM: Taking sandwiches to the farm. How is it lunch time already?
03:21 PM: We have no water. How am I supposed to make coffee?
07:42 AM: Stayed up ridiculously late fiddling with importing old RSS feeds
Fixin' up the website
When I first started blogging we didn’t have Twitter or Flickr or del.icio.us. We didn’t even have RSS. We didn’t really have blogging tools, for that matter. I rolled my own like a lot of folks, and other people did it by hand.
Man that was awesome.
Now that we’ve got Twitter and Flickr and del.icio.us it’s so easy to create these tiny pieces of content. 140 characters here, a link there, a photo over here…and it’s all scattered. There’s no single place to say “Who is Michael Ivey, and what is he up to?”
So I’ve reconstructed it. I’m still using Twitter for the short posts, del.icio.us and Google Reader for links, Flickr for photos. I’m just aggregating them here in HTML, so they feel like a single site, representing me.
(I’m not sure if I’ll keep Mephisto or switch to something that plays nicer on a shared host. The good news is, it won’t matter. Content creation can happen anywhere.)

10:40 PM: Damn, found a stupid bug (setting an lvar instead of calling accessor) that lost some really useful data. Trying to re-assemble from logs.
06:54 PM: Headed to Sonic to pick up slushes and take them to the farm. Should be on the radio for the Alabama QSO party, but antenna's not performing
12:14 AM: Half and half tomato and pesto pizza. Whole house smells yummy.

05:12 PM: Ordering a frosty float at Wendy's. I'd rather have Sonic but there's not one around.
04:15 PM: Going to run some errands before a very busy afternoon
02:45 PM: Trying my coffee guy's fairtrade seasonal, which is currently a Mexican bean. It's pretty tasty.
